Eldred has been stressing lately about not getting home early enough to do any yardwork. Not that he enjoys yardwork. It just needs to be done. I am not enamored of it either. Since the poison ivy incident, I have been even less interested in working in the yard. Today I decided to help reduce his stress level by mowing part of the side yard. It was not meant to be.
I left work abut 45 minutes late. I wanted to finish up the memo to the Security Office before I left. I arrived home before dark hoping that I could at least cut grass for half an hour. I changed clothes. Then the problems began. I couldn't find the dust mask. Oh well, how bad can it be to breathe junk for half an hour. I'll just make sure I take a Claritin before bed. I dragged the lawnmower down the drive. I tried to start it. Nothing. I remembered that I have to prime it. It still wouldn't start. I checked the gas tank. Empty. I walked back to the garage and grabbed the gas container. I was half expecting it to be empty but it wasn't. If filled the tank and tried to start the mower again. After about 5 minutes of fiddling, I gave up and put the mower back in the garage.
Since there was still some light I decided perhaps I would hack overgrown shrubbery. Then I got the bright idea to shred tree debris. I dragged the shredder partway down the drive. I dragged over a few limbs. After a few tries I started the shredder. I was able to shred a few things before it got too dark. At least it's a minor help.
I took a shower and ate eggs and beans on toast for dinner. Eldred is still not home and it's 9:30pm. Sigh...
