Over the weekend there has been a political incident in Finland. We have this right-wing party Perussuomalaiset (translated True Finns, though literally it would be Basic Finns...). They have a sly jerk as president - the party is his idea and my personal opinion is that this student of political sciences (without any conscience or ideals) realized

Yours is such a difficult position. I'm sure you're in-laws are good people, which makes it also harder, when mind-sets collide. What I would like to learn is to counter such situations without antagonizing people - ok, without becoming antagonized myself first. If one could develop a set of answers and retorts, like one does with dogs and kids -? Like the way you give as an example.

Israeli is such a sad story, something gone terribly wrong. I know and understand the history and politics, but it is hard to understand what you name the mind-set: how to live it all, in the middle of it. I read one article (long ago) which said that the Jews who came from Europe called the Jews who were natives of Palestine "Schwartze"s, the black ones - and complained that they had such Arab faces you could not tell the difference.

Just shared in fb from Dayna the Martin Luther King quote, I thought it was precisely on topic. "the white moderate who is more devoted to ‘order’ than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice". During this instance of radical right-wing racism I mentioned, many nice persons have been saying that it is jut as bad to radically oppose the racists as it is to declare racist opinions - that extremes are bad and a peaceful moderate way is the best. I very much fear the peaceful and moderate is a privileged position, for those whom racism creates no problems.
