Mecha Flight

[ As so often occurs in this City the video was accidentally recorded. Up until now Eagle had been able to do a fairly decent job of keeping the FTO hidden and secret from the majority of the City’s residence, but today the urge to climb inside and take the large mecha for a flight was uncontrollably powerful. The video, pure accident, switched itself on as he slid into the cockpit. As the consoles and view screens flashed to life Eagle took a moment just to sit there and enjoy feeling the weight of the visor resting on his head. It had been a long time since he had been able to do this. ]

[ The mecha’s thrusters roared to life… ]

[ …and sent the machine jetting through the sky. It was fast. So fast that at times the object appeared as nothing more than a streak of light blazing its way across the cloud filled blue sky. High into the air, ever closer to the barrier, then breaking right, away from a certain collision.
Cutting the power to the engines sent the machine into a roll as it plummeted from the high altitude it had attained. Dropping through the layers of atmosphere with the force of gravity driving the FTO even faster. Eagle wanted to push his mecha, see just how fast he could make it go, but with the ground swiftly approaching he willed the machine to recover enough to skim across the surface of the ocean.
Finally, with his gravity induced speed gradually fading, he slowed, allowing the thrusters to keep him in a stationary location hovering over the beach. ]
