I am so FUCKING angry right now. I FINALLY got the dvd of RENT today. And I can't even watch the rest of it. It's appalling. They butchered everything. What music they did keep intact they twisted around completely and most of the time in a way that made it sound terrible. They completely through the plot development that Jonathan Larson used, and went with their own, very rapid and rampant with holes way. It just jumped from one major song to the other. Condensing the rest into half assed bits where they basically shoved different parts of the various sub-songs into a spoken dialogue, usually sounding insanly stupid as it was meant to be sung, and AABB rhyme scheme can never, ever, sound cool spoken. They completely sucked at matching the sound to the screen. It was like watching a music video the whole way through. Honestly, they didn't do a bad job with the music, I might get the soundtrack so I listen to it without the horrendousness of it being used as a story. But I don't know. They just butchered the songs so much. I cannot believe I am writing this because I honestly never thought they would be able to make it bad enough to turn me away. But my god.. this reminds me of the horrendously done
