mini-van driving expert!

I turned in my econ paper which turned out to be a 9 page beauty where much of my time was spent bashing the author. It featured a discussion of shampoos and my conclusion quoted NPR. I loved writing it and I can only hope he enjoys reading it. Yippee!

In other news I have a lot of organic chemistry to be studying before my finals on Monday and Tuesday. Oh joy!

I cleaned my fish tank today. It was pretty gross, so I had to do a 95% water change. Well I was so concerned with getting water back into the tank for my fish to swim around it that I forgot to think about water temperature. When I finally finished refilling the tank I stuck my hand in to rearrange some plants and had a nasty shock. It was so cold that the temperature wasn't even showing up on the thermometer that I have on the side of the tank. So I took a measuring cup out and filled it with water and microwaved it for a minute. I repeated this process until I got the temperature up to 66 degrees. Poor fish. I hope they aren't too shocked. I did put some electrolytes into their water so hopefully that will reduce their stress.

This evening after Spaghetti for the Soul I drove up to Danforth Chapel with Pastor Norris and Father Alford to help set up for Candles and Carols. After we finished setting up Father Alford realized we were missing a large candle that was necessary for the service. Neither Pastor Norris nor Father Alford could leave to go back to Canterbury so Pastor Norris gave me the keys to his mini-van and sent me back to Canterbury. I got into the car, adjusted the seat and got ready to drive. Well I've driven a few automatics but I can't say that I really all that comfortable with driving them. I much prefer manual. Well I figured out how to put it into reverse to back out of the spot but then I realized I didn't have the lights on so I had to fumble around to find the switch and I manged to hit everything else, including the windshield wipers, before I found the lights. I drove to Canterbury picked up the candle and came back to Danforth only to find that my parking spot had been taken! I saw that there was a parallel parking spot up ahead and I'm not really sure what possessed me to try it but I drove up sized up the spot and decided to go for it. Halfway through parking, Pastor Norris came out and said, "Wow!" beat "Can I have the candle?" Here I was hoping he would finish parking his van. Oh well. So I finished parking the van and get into the chapel where Pastor Norris tells me, "I wouldn't have tried that." So having never driven a mini-van before in my life I parallel parked it. w00t, I rock!
