Gabrielle: The Name on Everyone's Lips
Well, it was official as of late last night.
Our off-shore low pressure system has turned into an honest-to-goodness named storm. Hence the new icon honoring the first "Gabrielle" that came to mind.
To make it even more real, Jim Cantore has indeed shown up in North Carolina, albeit he's down the road a ways at North Topsail Beach. He's apt to miss the really fun stuff where he's stationed currently, though. Perhaps by tomorrow he'll slide northwards.
Of course, all of this means that I'll have to go back to the DHoC tonight and then stay there until it's all over and done with. I spoke with my mom late this morning and she's urging me to plan to stay through Monday. This is something I'd rather avoid because I've got stuff to finish before traveling, but may not be able to.
As mentioned previously, she's uncomfortable about my plans to leave town for a few days soon. Maybe a little extra time with her now will make that easier later? Based on recent experiences, that's a vain hope if ever there was one. {exhausted sigh}
