Fanfiction + Heat? What a combo
I'm terribly pleased to note that the Realizations Arc is moving right along.
Yesterday, I added another 8,300+ words to "Karmic Backlash" which is turning into a monster! I was seriously considering slicing some of the earlier books of the arc into chapters, but hadn't made a decision yet. This one, however, will definitely need to be subdivided for the sake of everyone's sanity!
Most of the work yesterday was the hard, slogging, uphill kind, building a fully realized yet all-new home for the Schwarz psychics to live in and so forth. I'm excited about giving them a place that isn't the typical penthouse, but we'll have to wait and see if anyone else gets a kick out of it, too. Anyway, that kind of work leaves me very little to pick from for a teaser quote. So, instead of humor, here's a taste of angst for you this evening:
Crawford in response to a suggestion from Schuldig that they ask Eszett for aid: “No! I will *not* turn to those bastards and let them see weakness in me!” His eyes were screwed tightly shut and his mouth narrowed into a dangerous line as he insisted, “Never again will they see me bowed before them seeking assistance! Once was enough!”
As to whether or not I'll get any more done on this tonight, it's all up to Erato. I'm on the threshold of scripting her first Brad/Schu lemon, but until she gives me a clearer scenario to draw from, I'll have to be patient.
On another topic entirely, I'd like to say that it's too fucking hot here.
The ever insightful weisshund and I were chatting about it this afternoon since it sucks up there in Michigan almost as much as it does here in North Carolina. When I checked my desktop link to our local reporting station, it showed an air temperature of 97, but a heat index---how hot it actually feels---of 115! Yikes! That takes the term "scorcher" to whole new levels of hellishness.
Where this really has an impact on me personally are the heat and sun induced migraines like the one that I was suffering from Monday. Yes, I try to avoid being out in it and that helps a lot, but not even I can afford to stay in my comfy cave 24/7, and that means pain every time I walk outside. Hmmm... I used to have some good Saiyuki icons about excessive heat. I wonder which of my chosen fandoms might have some at this point?
