I was walking down the street today and had the sudden desire to call up my mom. I wanted to talk to her, but not the real her, just an idealized mother that I don't have hold of. So, for fear of having my heart broken when reality answered, I never called.

I may have to read that book Motherless Mothers.  I hear it does wonders for a girl.

I'm going to leave school after next quarter for an undeterminable amount of time. My mother left me a message saying she was just checking in because we hadn't talked for a couple days.

A couple of days, a couple of weeks. Apparently it's all the same to her. It's time to make her work for our relationship, if she indeed wants one.
