I’ve been pretty absent lately. Chalk it up to a combination of computer issues, real world distractions, and general busyness. I still lurk around the communities, but haven’t really been interacting with anyone. I’d promise to do better, but does anyone really miss me when I’m gone?
One of the distractions I mentioned earlier has been movies. There have been so many exciting movies released so far this summer! “Super 8” reminded me of how fun movies were when I was little. “Green Lantern” was fun, if a little too special-effects driven. Harry Potter finally came to a close with “Deathly Hallows”, which was made of equal parts tears and win. “Cowboys and Aliens” was a lot of fun and I have a newfound appreciation for Daniel Craig and his badassery. Most distracting, I am completely and utterly in love with X-Men First Class. I want to climb into the movie and snuggle down between Charles and Erik on that red velvet bed for the rest of the summer. Haven’t seen Captain America yet, because I’m planning to see it in Cincinnati with the HLP.
Cincinnati, yes. The annual oogle-palooza is less than a week away now. I’m equal parts excited to see the new grounds and annoyed that we had to pay more for the same amount of tennis. (Because the tournaments are completely integrated this year, there were no women’s tickets to sell, so our cost nearly doubled.) I’d say I’m ready to go, but to be honest, I haven’t even begun packing. I did buy some of the things I’ll need for my new anti-sun strategy, but that’s pretty much it.
What else have I been doing? Trying to stay warm despite the fact that it’s “summer”, dragging friends to Trek in the Park, rocking out at Kane concerts, trying to keep up with True Blood, Leverage, Alphas, and the new series of Torchwood on television, re-reading every Star Wars novel I own in chronological order, plotting with my friend Robin to make the drunken most of Gay Days 2011, and designing and sewing a vinyl ball gown.
Whew. You can see why I haven’t had much time for LiveJournal.
