Now You've Got Me Riled
I hate it when people try to go around me at work. By which I mean that I hate it when I say “no” to someone, and they go to someone else hoping for a different answer. I know what I’m doing, people! If I can’t help you, there’s a reason, and I never leave anyone completely hanging. I always suggest other, better ways to get what you want / need.
You know what isn’t a good way to get what you need? Contacting my high-strung senior prosecutor to ask for something that I told you we didn’t have but told you exactly how to get. Because he doesn’t know any better, and when he comes to ask me for it, I can’t just tell him no. I have to explain, and he finds himself in the middle of a situation that has nothing to do with him.
Don’t think I’m going to forget this, either, the next time you need something I can get for you.
