Here We Are. 2008.

Happy New Year to one and all.  I was going to write more about this passage into '08, or at the very least do one of the various end-of-year memes that have been passed around, but haven't got the energy, nor really the spirit right now. Instead, you'll get the last cameraphone picture from my month of daily cell phone pictures. Rosie and Bean behind a waterfall in the middle of San Francisco. It was a hectic day, but lovely --

You can see the December cellphone pictures set (plus a few of the rejects) here. I think I'll continue to add to it, but perhaps not everyday as I've been doing.  Maybe I'll even graduate up to my extra-fancy point and shoot camera!

Now it is 2008, and I'm almost scared to make New Year's resolutions. I know what they'd be if I were to make them, but I am also perhaps afraid of setting myself up for failure. Calling them "New Year's Wishes" seems somehow more appropriate, but since it is unlikely the magical wish fairy is going to float down on her new year star and grant them, I'd only wish for something that I could grant for myself. That, however, is what my resolutions would be anyway, and so my little linguistic machinations (is is a wish or a resolution?) don't mean a damn thing.  Whichever, I'm not sure I want to go there.  However, feel free to send any wishes/resolutions my way, especially if you happen to possess magic wish-granting powers.

And then there would be my new year's wishes for our terribly fucked up but nonetheless beautiful world, and we can only work on fulfilling those resolutions together, and it seems that there are a few too many people in my country not exactly in line with that.

Sigh. I'm in a shitty mood. New Year's Eve does that to me. We'll see if I get any sleep tonight.
