Sens-Panthers.

This game is not televised - not in the conventional way, at least - so on Centre Ice tonight, they have the Panthers' in-arena video feed combined with an audio feed from the Panthers' radio broadcast.

This whole production is adorable and hilarious. Like watching a Rogers Community TV production of Ottawa Wheels/Loggers roller hockey circa-1996 ( Read more... )

As a Latvian, I'm curious about the pronunciation of Daugaviņš. I would assume that all English language broadcasters would mispronounce it the same way (ending it with -ins instead of -inch).

He told broadcasters around the league to pronounce it kind of like "DOG-ivans" (where "ivans" sorta rhymes with "evans"). I've heard the Ottawa guys say that they know it's wrong, but it's the one North Americans are most likely to say, so he asked them to go with that.

The Florida guy sorta said it like "duh-GAH-vins".

I would anglicize it as "DOW-gavins" but the Ottawa version is certainly better than the Florida, which made me wince.

Actually, if I think it out a little more, it's probably more like "DAW-gavins" that the Ottawa guys say it. Close to yours, but not quite.
