I read about this platform plank in a column a few weeks back, but it wasn't specific. It just said that the NDP was planning to eliminate the GST on "family essentials". At the time, I thought it was a great idea. Why shouldn't they eliminate the tax on things that you absolutely have to buy in order to live? Why should my fucking life be taxed?

Now, I'm too upset for words. Of course, when I saw the word 'family', I should've realized. The policy would only apply to kids' books, kids' clothing and kids' medicines...

How many times does it need to be said: Kids are not the only poor people? Maybe when I'm working on the campaign, I'll have a chance to say this to Jack, in person.
