Summer begging; tell me to fuck off if you want

THIS SONG IS SO FANTASTIC.

It's time for one of the best festivals of the year: Beer fest starts tomorrow! I already seem to have one partner for the thing, but if anyone else wants to go, I certainly don't object to drinking good beer on more than one night this week. So this is as good a time as any for my pre-summer spectacular blow-out post where I beg people to do with me this summer all the cool things that I want to do.

Do you want to do any of this stuff?

Beer fest: Wednesday through Sunday of this week. Windsor Station. Free admission.

Soccer: I'm probably not going to go tonight, when the Impact play Toronto FC in the first-ever match of the Canadian Champions League, but they have a whole schedule full of games over the course of the summer, including another Champions League game versus Vancouver on June 17th. I'm most interested in that one, but I'd happily sit in the cheap seats for pretty much any game they're playing.

Tennis: July 26-August 3. Uniprix Stadium. The tickets that I'm willing to spring for range from FREE to $20, and I'm really only interested in going to the early draws from July 26-29. I'm not paying more than $20 to sit in the nosebleeds in the stadium court.

Comedy (Just for Laughs): 1-The Alternative Comedy Show. July 18 & 19 at 11:59pm (Yes, that's right. Yes, it's annoying they start it at midnight. Yes, I'm going to go regardless) at Cabaret. Tickets probably about $20-25 for all the JFL shows I'm gonna list.

2-The Nasty Girls. I've never been to see the Nasty Show, but I'm very interested in the female version they're putting on for the first time this year. Two shows, both on July 19 at Club Soda.

3-The Nasty Show. I figure it's about time. It's on at a bunch of different times between July 8-13, at Club Soda.

Jimmy Fallon, Kathy Griffin and Joan Rivers are hosting some of the galas. I'm really gonna hafta pass on those. Craig Ferguson could be okay, but probably pricey and probably my money is better-spent on any of the three options above.

Music: You know, not much. From the Jazz Fest, Public Enemy could be fun (but probably not worth it for me; also, it's hilarious that CHOM is a sponsor for that) and I bet the McCoy Tyner Big Band would be fabulous, but it's likely outta my price range. Ditto on Aretha Franklin. AND OH MY GOD WHAT IS THIS: "Joe Piscopo salutes Frank Sinatra with Live Jazz Orchestra conducted by Joe Muccioli"

Is that what I think it is? The guy who used to do the best Sinatra impression around is going to sing Sinatra songs on stage at the Montreal International Jazz Festival? For real? Maybe that's something I could be talked into.

But aside from that (and aside from whatever free shows I end up going to at the Jazz Fest), I don't see a whole lot that interests me on the schedule so far. I'd consider going to the blues festival in Ottawa for a day or two if they hadn't messed up their ticketing/pricing structure from last year. And I'll keep my eyes peeled for other listings, but so far, I'm unimpressed by the summer concert lineup in these parts.

La Ronde: I have secured my pass. So we should go together sometime, yes?

So, anyway, those are some of the things I want to do this summer. If you also want to do any of those things, talk to me. There's more that I'll probably think of later on - next month or something.

Taking a cue from my friend evilsocks, I'm going to open myself up to your slings and arrows today:

Post anonymously about anything you'd like to share. Your trials and tribulations, your teenage infatuation, your hatred for me (please keep it to a minimum though ;p), any questions you want to ask of me or anyone else, your deepest secrets, A-N-Y-T-H-I-N-G - about me or not.

I'm screening anonymous comments. If it seems like you want dialogue, I'll make yours public when I reply. Or if you just want it public regardless, say so in the comment and I'll make it viewable. Unless you tell me to fuck off.

begging, meme, comedy, sports, music, social life, summer fun!
