Yesterday at work we had a party. What a fantastic atmosphere that place has. I don't think they'll hire someone who likes to complain, who won't talk to the other workers, who won't crack jokes and act like a fool now and then.

It's such a change from most of the other work that I've ever had, really. At Bell/IBM or the Bagel shop, I couldn't imagine a party - not even at Christmas. Nancy made tortière, potato salad and rum cake. We drank wine. Apparently sometimes they play games at these things.

Ian called last night. He's depressed. He says he has few friends and that living where he does and as he does is not healthy. From what he's told me, I'd tend to agree. He doesn't make much of an effort, though, to be honest. He's been here for a year and a half, and he really hasn't gotten involved in anything. He's talked plenty about playing hockey, or football, but it just doesn't happen. I feel bad for him, but I don't, because Concordia's such a commuter school that you have to put in some effort to get to know people.

My mom called, drunk, the other night. That's allowed, though, because she was celebrating a wonderful trip to Long Beach, California. She wants to take Elizabeth and I there, but I really don't think that's going to happen. I'll take dozens of places on this continent and beyond before Southern California, thanks.
