In Old Crow.

Jan 23, 2013 15:39

Cold doesn't begin to describe it. I thought I knew cold. Then we got off the plane and walked around the propeller and the wind PUNCHED US IN THE FACE.

And now I see this for today and tonight posted on Environment Canada's Old Crow weather page:
Extreme wind chill minus 50. Frostbite in minutes.

The landing was pretty white-knuckle stuff, too. Lots of dips and swerves that make your stomach stand on guard. Plenty of nice things so far too, though. The riverfront is pretty. The people are very friendly. The accommodations are nicer than I expected. The dude who chatted with us on the street earlier wearing a BALLCAP AND NOTHING ON HIS EARS. Holy cow.

Many pictures and much text to come at a later time. Tonight. Tomorrow. When I'm back in Whitehorse. Dunno.
