The Strike

I'm "late."

It's sad, really. After being threatened with imprisonment, fines and all around railroaded (npi) by the media the TWU opted to go back to work yet nothing changed for them.

I love how Bloomberg was trying to simultaneaously convey that "the city is resilient" while trying to convey that the "selfish" strike was crippling the city. Old age must be creeping up on him. I mean, either we were thriving or we were crippled. One minute we were still in the race and running fast,.the next we had two broken legs. I still don't understand. During a press conference, in one breath he said the school's attendance numbers were great. Then after he was probed by the press for the actual numbers, he said that it was 31% that Tuesday and about 40% Wednesday. =/ If those numbers are seen as great, it's no wonder our education system is in the fuckin toilet.

He would paddle back and forth between "we're doing so well" and "but seriously, we're fucked." After saying how wonderful the attendance numbers were he'd contrast it with info about how retail stores weren't making that much money. =( I mean, less than a third of the kids show up to school and we're doing well, but FOR GOD'S SAKES WHAT ABOUT MACY'S!??! The kids are doing well with almost 70% staying home, so fuck 'em. Who's gonna worry about Barney's and Bloomingdale's?!?!?!?! =( As always our priorities are on point.

I hate this fuckin country.
