Remember when Jim Carey was just Fire Marshall Bill or rather "that crazy white boy on In Living Color?" Now he's one of the highest paid actors in the world and commands creative control over every damn picture he makes. That is amazing!

FYI Amazing is my new word. Everything is amazing. And amazing can mean anything between ridiculous, wonderful and so fuckin absurd that it's beyond human comprehension. The latter being the operative meaning most of the time. Por ejemplo, this country's international affairs are fuckin amazing!

"Catchin' bullets! With his teeth?!"

That was a lot less random than it seems. For some reason I've been thinking about this movie a lot and considering getting the DVD because it's been a while since I've seen it. But I'm kinda reluctant to buy a DVD that doesn't have some amazing (read: ridiculous), unnecessary extra features. Like 15 different people doing commentaries, 245 hours of deleted scenes, 5 theatrical trailers and 136 alternate endings. We are so inundated with excessivity* that I am no longer satisfied with just having the movie on the damn DVD. I need all the cool, superlative features to motivate me into buying it. There's a lesson in there about excess, desensitization and the numbness we as a society on a whole are experiencing to make us so unsatisfied with something as novel as a DVD (player) (when most of us should be happy to even own one at all. especially my broke ass), but I don't quite have the energy to go deep into it. Maybe later.

So yeah I most likely won't buy it because it only has the movie on it (what a fuckin concept!). I did, however, buy the 2003 vamped up version of A Christmas Story. "You'll shoot your eye out!" Best Christmas movie in LIFE! No exaggeration (as I usually do). This, of course, has some amazing extra features. An interactive trivia, featurettes, a documentary featuring interviews with all the old characters and commentary from the writer/director and Ralphie himself! I'm having as close to an orgasm as I can have over a DVD.

I still don't quite have the words for you people who don't know/understand the joy that is Pulp Fiction. Sammy J and John Travolta in all their glory! And I will pray for those who haven't even seen it yet. You know who you are *leers at them*. I hardly have the words for you people, but believe me when I find the words, "amazing" (its latter version) will be somewhere in the mix.

*someone PLEASE let me know if that is a word or what word would be appropriate instead of it, if it isn't. 5 bucks says Mars replies to this part of this entry

amazing
