so,
names associated to myself over the years.
on AOL i went under a variety of names, however,
only one sticks out as something i used many times
& that was 'a smoking man'.
this is a reference to the X-Files.
A Smoking Man and Deepthroat were both
sources of information for the investigators,
and they were portrayed as rivals.
when i first started sharing poetry
on the internet i used the handle, 'LXiX'.
this was at spydersempire.com.
the roman numeral for sixty-nine.
seems dirtier than it should.
i selected it because at the time i had been
involved with nine different women, and slept with six of them.
i lowercased the 'i' as a signature to the way i write,
in all lowercase.
when i started writing at the insane poets' guild i
wanted a new tag. i was in to stephen king's books at the time
and started using the username 'gunslinger'.
in like '99 i got in to graffiti art and to this day some of my tags
can still be found around Baltimore, this is when i started using
the name 'a.k.a. the letter j.' and it seemed natural to start
using this online.
(sometimes simply 'j.', but very rare.)
it was around this time ('99) that another poetry site i was on
went hi-tech and started using a bulletin board and i would select
the final name i use. 'lovesetsfire' was based off my desire for a love and big family
and my interest in a local band (well, to delaware) where two of the members
worked for my Uncle Scott's construction company, boysetsfire,
and i often got most of their CD's for free from the relation.
even though i am pretty blind and horrible at modern shooting games,
i often played them with my cousin, Paul, who once had an LJ here.
he used the gaming handle MjrTremor, a reference to the horror movie Tremors,
so i played with him (mostly as cannon fodder), i used the name 'PvtShockwave'.
more than playing games, i was in to level design and made stuff
for duke nukem 3d/shadow warrior, quake 1, half-life, neverwinter nights, and mario brothers x.
here, i used my real name, but when my third DN3D total conversion started winning
community awards i was given the name 'LevelMaster', which was a reference
to former 3D Realms level designer Richard Gray, nicknamed LevelLord.
probably because of putting easter eggs in all my levels, as Gray did.
i was honored, so i ran with it.
i modeled a bunch of vehicles for some grand theft auto san andreas hacks
& i used this handle for my credit on those projects.
i've always used one of these names.
peace;(cloudpreacher).
