holiday diary: hong kong part 9

Next stop was the Aberdeen Fishing Village, site of the famous Jumbo floating restaurant. But before that we passed by a jewellery factory where they showed us around the workshops and we got discount coupons to be used in the showroom.

We took a ride in the traditional sampan through the fishing village

And then it was off to Stanley Market for a spot of lunch and some shopping

The view coming down around that mountain was amazing. Apparently Jackie Chan has a mansion somewhere up in those hills.

Out there is the South China Sea

Not sure if you could see it but up in that hill are the cable cars that link the two parts of Ocean Park

We then made our way back to Kowloon Island

This cemetery is right smack in the centre of a busy city

Stopping over at Marco Polo Gateway for food and a bit of shopping

This was delicious!

Viel spotted these and had to take photos!

We felt adventurous and decided to take the double-decker bus back to the hotel. Man, that was a nightmare! The driver didn't speak, at all, not even any Chinese. So my sister ended up giving HK$50 for all of our fare. I think it was only HK$4.30 per adult and half for the kids so we were due some change.

Welcome to Da Hood!

Bus stops around the city were aplenty and people would queue up quietly without pushing each other to get on the bus.

We almost missed our stop! We didn't know where to get off and kept looking out the window to see any familiar sight. We sat up on the top so we had a good view. Luckily I spotted the name of the bus stop before it was too late. And right there, about 200 meters away was our hotel! Blessed relief. That evening was uneventful as we only got some dinner and a lot of rest because we were going to Ocean Park the following day. I think it was also the first time I checked my work email. :)
