Letter to UOB Cards Department

I am writing to express my utmost disapointment in your bank.

I used to be holding a UOB VISA Campus Debit Card, which I never had problems with and have been using it regularly, earning UNI$ in the meantime and extremely satisfied with the redemptions that you were offering.

Then some time back, I received the UOB NOW Platinum Debit Card, which I NEVER applied for and was told to replace it with the current Campus card that I was holding.

With that, I cut up my old Campus card and started using the NOW card, without being informed that the NOW card does not accumulate UNI$. So for the past few months, I have been charging thousands of dollars to this card, without getting any benefit in return.

Had I been informed that UNI$ are no longer applicable for this card, I would have charged all my expenses to my other DBS and Citibank cards which would have given me better redemption benefits!

As such, I called your Call Centre today, hoping to find some alternatives but was told coldly by a lady, Richie, that there was nothing she can do except for me to cancel this card and apply for another card that had UNI$. There was no attempt to offer sympathy or provide any form of service recovery. I reiterated once again to Richie that I did not apply for the NOW card. If the bank was phasing out the Campus Card, then in forcing your customers to use the replacement card, I think the bank ought to make all matters clear to your customers. In the brochure that accompanied the NOW card, you only focused on the new benefits that came with the card but totally ignored and hid all other changes in the past benefits (including the fact that UNI$ are no longer applicable) that used to be there for the old card but is now not brought forward together with the new Card.

I am extremely appalled by the bank's non-keenness to retain your customers. In times of such current economic situation, I am shocked and disappointed to see that your bank is not making any effort to retain your customers. Especially so when I have been such a loyal customer of UOB, considering that I even have other fixed deposits accounts with you and also that of my family's.

The level of service provided, or rather, the lack of it, is extremely disappointing.

I look forward to hear from you, very soon, on the alternatives you can offer. Otherwise I guess I will have to go with Richie's suggestion to cancel the card.

They better reply fast and better be one that can pacify me, or this is going to the papers! Urgh! I mean, seriously, common on, i DIDNT apply for this card, I don't even want it! You are the freaking one that force me to replace it then you just secretly change the benefits without telling me?!?!?!??!?!?1 Sneaky pieces of shit!
