I have been using my hosting company for over 5 years and have never really had a problem with them until Thursday. The server that my website, the Corellian boards, and the Pulserifle website died. Normally this wouldn't be too much of a problem if they were doing regular backups. The last backup that they had was from July 12, so any information ( Read more... )

Or, um, you could change hosting companies to someone who does nightly backups.

I recommend futurequest.net - I've been with them since '98 and no disasters they couldn't fix in a matter of hours. And a backup every 24 hours.

Just sayin'.

Well I am paid up for a few more months, but it might be time to shop around after that. I setup cron jobs to backup my databases nightly now, so hopefully that will help prevent this from happening again.

damn, that sucks!

i have my home computer set up to pull down a backup of the 501stforums.com every night, just in case that happens. it seems like a fairly good setup.

man... i feel your pain there.
