Twelfth Doctor Trouser Alt

While I'm absolutely certain that this is not where the screen-used trousers came from, I just happened to have a pair of trousers that I thought were an incredible match for Capaldi's, aside from the direction of the pleats.

They were part of a suit that I ordered from http://Tailor4Less.com, although let me state now that under no circumstances do I suggest buying a suit jacket from that company.

Still, compared to jackets, pants are easy to construct and these ones are pretty nice, lined to the knee, and made of 100% wool.

However, before anyone takes the plunge and puts 80 bucks into a pair, I wanted to disclose fully my ordering process, measuring, and problems I've run into.

First off, after making a profile on the website, it asks you for your height and weight. Using that, it generates suggested measurements which I've found to be surprisingly accurate.

Still, it's always best to double check the measurements which your trousers will use.

As a warning, "Pants Waist" is for the inner diameter of the trouser waistband, not the outer diameter. You should also get a cloth measuring tape and check the measurements for Hips, Rise, and Thigh to make sure they're correct, and certainly not too small.

The most important one for the Twelfth Doctor look is the "Pants Length". As an example, I originally measured a pair of trousers with a fairly low full-to-medium break on me.

In order to measure the length of them for this website, you need to measure the outseam. While the website's diagram suggests doing it while you're still wearing them (which seems difficult without another person), I suggest laying them flat on the floor and measuring them.

(The trousers I measured must have had a very full break, because my measurements above for my Tailor4Less trousers have the length at 38.5 inches, a full half on inch longer than my corduroy pants.)

Measuring a normal length for trousers, they end up looking like Capaldi's when you order the Slim Fit ones. The bottom of the hem is narrower, and so lies further up on the boots.

You can see the Twelfth Doctor's lie even further up because he has thicker boots. (Though part of it is because of the skewed perspective on my pictures. Sorry about that.)

And so, there's the features of how you order the trousers.

The outlined ones are the features we know are on the screen-used trousers. The others are obscured by the coat and cardigan, so are a matter of personal choice.

Also, I would advice against selecting any of their cloths that are aren't 100% wool.

Lastly, you'll notice that the screen trousers have Forward Pleats, which  are folded in towards the fly, rather than the now-normal Reverse Pleats which are folded away from the fly.

I contacted Tailor4Less' customer service, and they told me that I could request forward pleats by contacting customer service with my order reference number and specifically asking for them. However I've heard a lot of examples of customer service troubles with this company, so I'm not entirely faithful that asking for forward pleats will be successful.

If anyone wants to wait to see another example before deciding, I'm planning to order another pair, requesting the forward pleats. I'll write up a review of them once I get them in.
