Madame de Pompadour Costume. Stage One
So I have recently started work on getting the Madame de Pompadour ready. I'd like to have it done by Dragon*Con, and since this is a pretty difficult costume I have started early.
Now here's the start.
The pattern:
The easiest way to start with this costume is finding the proper pattern. A good match is Simplicity 4092. Dress B, but with the sleeves from the A dress. Dress B is the larger picture in the pattern cover. It's not that difficult of a modification, just needed for the extra frill.
This week I'm off to a specialty fabric story to find the fabric. I'm looking for fabric that already has embroidery on it. I'm not about to embroider the dress after I'm finished... I don't have anywhere near the skill for that.
