Gallifrey 2013

Oct 15, 2012 08:13

Hello dw_cosplay... pardon the interruption but I figured I'd remind everyone that Gallifrey 2013: The 24 Hours of Gallifrey One is only four short months away...

As a special treat for cosplay fans, this year we're delighted to welcome costuming legend June Hudson.  Among her distinguished career, Hudson is best remember by our audience as the costume designer during one of the series' most iconic periods: the latter half of the Tom Baker era, where she was responsible for, among other things, the designs of Baker's "bohemian" look and of course the widely varying costume work for Lalla Ward's Romana. Her work also included a stint as costume designer on Blake's 7 and Survivors. She left the BBC in 1990 to diversify her portfolio still further. Her design drawings have been exhibited at the National Theatre and Chichester Theatre and her work is included in the RSC s permanent exhibition at Stratford, and she has lectured at many venues including the University of Redlands here in Southern California teaching intensive courses on design for science fiction television.  We will be featuring several unique appearances by June, including a reception with our costuming enthusiasts, as well as a slideshow of her work and Q&A.

As a reminder, our current confirmed guests include such notables as Arthur Darvill, Sir Derek Jacobi, Philip Hinchcliffe, Carole Ann Ford, Mark Strickson, Peter Purves, Frazer Hines, Ben Browder, Mark Sheppard, Douglas MacKinnon, Frances Barber, Shaun Dingwall, Bruno Langley, Dan Starkey, Finn Jones, Nina Toussaint-White, Catrin Stewart, Neve McIntosh, Jane Espenson, Keith Temple, Nicholas Briggs, Nick Pegg, Gary Russell, Lisa Bowerman, Andrew Smith, Phil Ford, Dan Hall and many others!  And we're still working on more guests as well...

Gallifrey 2013 is next February 15-17 at the Marriott Los Angeles Airport Hotel.  Months ago we announced we are capping attendance at 3200 registrants, and we are getting very close to that number, with only a couple hundred registrations still available.  Gallifrey One is known for its massive amount of cosplaying opportunities, including a dedicated cosplay hall, a grand Saturday night masquerade, a full cosplay panel program and workshops, a costume repair station, and photo areas (including Doctor Who backdrops, a TARDIS, the TV Movie TARDIS console and, for the first time, the bridge of the Enterprise from Star Trek: The Next Generation... yes, a photo op to reproduce the cover of IDW's Doctor Who/Star Trek crossover!)  Details as always are at http://www.gallifreyone.com

We hope to see you in February!
