This is yet another great interpretation! :)

I can't tell from the pic what material the skirt is, but if you are looking for a metallic orange fabric, you might look at a lightweight satin. If you don't find a fabric that suits, the tights/stockings perhaps could always be changed out for something in a shiny copper colouring, maybe?

Also, something else to take in consideration is that most people at cons aren't professional photographers, and may have difficulties in turning on and off flash, esp. in situations where they need to take a quick photo. :(

That's adorable! For an underskirt, you could always try a taffeta or something like it (in orange, of course). It would give some extra shape to the skirt and make the silhouette a bit like Idris's dress.
