What to carry around as the 11th doctor/What to put in your pockets and hands.

Jun 23, 2012 01:49

So upon always doubting about what to put into my pockets as the 11th doctor, i decided to investigate what he has in his pockets for each episode, there's also some non-pocketed things.

ELEVENTH DOCTOR SERIES 5 POCKET FILLERS.

ALL EPISODES:

Psychic Paper: Used by the Doctor to get into all sorts of situations, Darth Mule just finished a run of them, although he might make another one http://www.therpf.com/f13/doctor-who-psychic-paper-wallet-134912/. There is also a version of the Tenth Doctors sonic screwdriver than includes Psychic paper.

TARDIS Key: An ordinary(ish) ERA key. Although it’s sanded down to avoid showing logos. Should be easy to find around various stores.
.

Sonic Screwdriver: Do i really need to explain?

THE ELEVENTH HOUR:
Tenth Doctor's sonic screwdriver: Used by the Doctor to attract the alien invaders, although it ends up getting blown up. Various toy companies make replicas of the screwdriver, and members on THERPF.com also offer metal replicas of it. Although this is propably the best value-for-money version of it. http://www.amazon.com/Doctor-Who-Tenth-Doctors-Screwdriver/dp/B0009P5YXO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1340484221&sr=8-1&keywords=tenth+doctor+sonic+screwdriver.

Amy's apple: Used by the Doctor to help prove he's not talking rubbish, looks like it's a fake apple with carvings in it. You could either try finding a fake apple, or find a real apple. The fake apple is the better route, you just need to make sure it's the right apple, and it isn't hollow.

Rory's cameraphone: Used by the Doctor in an attempt to stop the Prisoner Zero, looks to be an Android, i don't know if anybody has ID'ed it yet. Try asking some of the Rory Williams cosplayers.

Jeff's MYTH laptop: Another piece of technology used by the Doctor to stop Prisoner Zero and the Atraxi, note that MYTH is not the real manufacturer of the computer, but simply a recurring (fake) company in Doctor Who producing electronics. I don't think the webcam and laptop has been ID'ed yet.

VOLVO Saxon firetruck: Commandeered by the Doctor to get to the hospital, Saxon is not a real VOLVO model, but a reference to Harold Saxon, who previously starred in the show. I give massive kudos to whoever goes this far with their cosplay.

THE BEAST BELOW:
Nothing in particular, he did use some glasses when checking for the ships engine though.

VICTORY OF THE DALEKS:
Jammy Dodger “Tardis self-destruct”, used to fight keep the Daleks at bay, just a regular Jammy Dodger really.

THE TIME OF THE ANGELS/FLESH AND STONE:
Black MAGLITE? Torch with blueish light, borrowed from the clerics when searching for the angels.

Cleric Communicator, small greenish walkie-talkie like thing, also used to help guiding Amy through the “forest”. Custom made by the shows art department. The Doctor stores it in his left back pocket, when not using it.

THE VAMPIRES OF VENICE:
Welding Goggles: Brass welding goggles with black-tinted lenses. Look in steampunk emporiums and safety equipment boutiques.

Library card: Similar to the Psychic paper, it’s made in heavier leather though, and has a thicker border around the actual card. Stored in left inner pocket.

Portable UV-light: Bigger than Rory’s, used to fight off the Vampires, stored in… His left trouser-leg? Seems to be a neon-light attached to a flashlight, certainly isn’t actually UV light in the show.

Brown striped sweet: Given to Amy to help fight the effects of the vampire bite, stored in inner pocket.

AMY’S CHOICE: Apple: Thrown at the Dream Lord to test if he’s real, stored in left inner pocket.

Generator: Hastily built by the Doctor, and given to Rory to try keeping the TARDIS running. Comprised of a crank handle whisk, a white metal cup, a wine-bottle opener, a small bulb (blue light), and wires.

Stethoscope: Black stethoscope used by the Doctor to check the TARDIS, should be easy to find in medical stores, or even costume shops.

Poncho: Made hastily by Amy in an attempt to heat up the trio, the Doctor’s poncho is made from a white fabric with a yellow/green flannel check.

Volkswagen mini-bus: Although I doubt anybody will go this far, I suppose it’s of worthy mention that the Doctor commandeers an air-cooled Volkswagen kombi for a moment In this episode.

THE HUNGRY EARTH/COLD BLOOD:
Pocket Binocular: Small foldable pocket binocular, most likely vintage, yet to be ID’ed. More vintage styles in metal are easy to find, although they’re not screen accurate as they’re usually brass as opposed to the Doctor’s plastic one.

Sling Shot: Used by the Doctor to test if they’re “locked in”, comprised from a conveniently shaped stick, two heavy-duty rubber bands and a piece of leather. Stored in his left inner pocket, the projectile he uses is a rock found on the ground.

Thermal Sunglasses: Used by the Doctor at night-time to spy for enemies, seems to be a slim style of Wayfarer sunglasses, looks quite cheap, and the lenses look like plastic. Look around your local cheap sunglasses shop for them.

Red polka-dotted handkerchief: Used to find a TARDIS fragment in the crack, looks like polyester or something similar, with a vertical polke-dot pattern and a red stripe around the edges.

TARDIS fragment: Found in the crack, the corner of the sign on the left side of the TARDIS door, a member did a run of these a while back, you might be able to find some of the ones from that run.

VINCENT AND THE DOCTOR:

Gift from smelly god-mother/invisible alien seeing device (Couldn’t come up with a better name): Comprised of lots of different odds and ends, from what I can briefly see: A bike handle, two belts, a rear view mirror, I’m sure I saw a thread on it somewhere on therpf.com. First found in a chest inside the TARDIS, later carried in a brown leather suitcase (most likely vintage).

Amy’s wedding ring (Presumably present in this episode): Silver ring, with clear diamond. Stored in a small red rounded square box made from velvet?.

THE LODGER:
Ear-piece: Used to communicate with Amy, while she’s stuck in the TARDIS. From what I could see, it could be an old hearing aid, with a blinking blue light attached to it. Not sure…

Craig’s Toothbrush: Accidentally used by the Doctor to try scanning the upper floor, blue/teal grip, with a head featuring two brushes. Although I highly doubt anybody will care what the electric toothbrush looks like, just get a basic white one. It’ll do.

Room Keys: Various keys, most notable is the wrench key-ring. Seems to have around three keys and a keyring. He got to keep them after the visit, so he could have them in his pocket in later episodes.

“Letter” from Amy: Essentially just a piece of paper with some writing (But make sure it’s a red pen!)on it, not much to it, the text says side:

Doctor - This one

no.79A Aickman Road

Amy xx (arrow down)

Also, he uses the stethoscope at the end of this episode again, and the wedding ring gets a small bit of screen time.

THE PANDORICA OPENS/THE BIG BANG:

Various tools: The Doctor uses several tools to scan the Pandorica while river gets his equipment from the TARDIS, this is probably all customly assembled from various bibs and bobs.

Vortex Manipulator: Cheap and nasty way of time travel, very Per Feux (I don’t know how it’s spelled, and isn’t it faux pas?). Seems to be the same type of Vortex Manipulator used by River Song, although this lacks the leather cover going over the controls. Could possibly be Captain Jack’s judging form Dorium Maldovar saying it’s “Fresh off the hands of a handsome time agent”, which, in every way, sound like Jack Harkness. Entertainment Earth should be releasing a version of it in August 2012, although you’ll need to remove the cover over the controls http://www.entertainmentearth.com/prodinfo.asp?number=UT02931#.T-TxibU9USY.
NOTE: I don't reccomend pre-ordering this yet, as the release date has been put forward for over a year now.

The Pocket Binocular also gets used here again.

Black PDA: Similar to the one used by River Song, except for the black/dark grey color. Used to scan the Pandorica, talk to River and scare off the enemies. I don’t really know any other way than going custom as of now, you might be able to get some help from some of the many River Song coplayers out there. And just a personal request, can somebody make an iPhone cover version of this? It would we awesome for cons to take this out of your pocket whenever you get a phone call.

The National Museum brochures: Used by the Doctor to get Amy to the Pandorica. Made to resemble a normal leaflet (albeit with some odd items at the museum) The Doctor found them in the Reception of the museum, before writing notes for Amelia on them (once again, with a RED pen) perhaps somebody could make a print-able version of this (if they haven’t already).

Stick Around Pond note: Small post-it note written on the Pandorica, the Doctor found the post-it notes in the reception of the museum.

Fez and Mop: One world perfectly describes these two items: Cool.

That’s all for now, please tell me if you want a Series 6 version of this. And please tell me if i missed something.
