Greetings, All,
My wife jumped on a pair of the S5 All Saints look-alikes that were mentioned in an earlier post (
http://dw-cosplay.livejournal.com/1102983.html) when, by luck, my size happened to come back in stock, and be on sale with an even further discount thanks to a promo code that actually worked. (She was secreting the pennies away while watching the Macy's site, and pounced, as these seem to be in stock one day, and out the next. She's a Goddess!)
She says she got the brown ones because it would be easier to "blacken" the lower part than it would be to try bleaching out and then browning the top part. (Makes sense to me.) So here's my question: The description on the site says the boots have "polyurethane uppers" (basically fake leather-like substance). Has anyone ever used shoe polish, or that liquid shoe dye in the sponge-tipped bottle, on anything polyurethane to change its color? If so, how well does the color change take, and is there any prep work that needs to be done to the surface in order for the polish/dye to take?
Thanks,
Dino.
