Uh-oh...the Doctor has said something he shouldn't have. (Again.) Would you say he has put/stuck his foot in his mouth? Or has he "stepped in it"? Or...?

Context: for a ficlet in which the Eleventh Doctor is talking with Donna Noble. He accidentally says something that might trigger her memories of traveling with him.

There's a game, played by bullies, where they take something belonging to the victim and throw it from one to another while the victim tries to get it back. In Scotland, we call this "Piggy in the Middle", and I've heard it called "Keep Away" but mainly by Americans. What would it be called in England, specifically in the 70s and 80s? I have a story where a teenage girl insults another girl because the latter has misinterpreted things - badly. What kinds of insults would a teenager in the early to mid 60s use? What's the range of severity? Are there certain slang words that she would use? How important would word choice be in dishing out the harshest insult for a stupid

I could swear that I picked this expression up from one of the Eleventh Doctor's novels, but now I can't even find said novel to double-check. At any rate, my question is this: how likely would it be for River to refer to a pile of sheep dung as "sheep dip"? Thanks in advance!

1.  Lingerie shops (Victoria's Secret, Fredrick's of Hollywood, etc).  Does anything like that exist in the UK (especially the London area), or would purchasing of sexy underthings (teddies, babydoll nightdresses etc) be done in places such as Marks and Spenser, Harrods, etc?
