The Alsace region of France was indeed lovely, but we finally went back to the Rhine and started the Germany part of our trip. One of our stops was to Stuttgart and the Mercedes Benz Museum. Even the building had the emblem on top!
One of the perks of this trip was the opportunity to go to several places to do wine tasting. The caves had the wine and the town had the charm.
One evening while we were docked, we went into Speyer. Though everything was closed, we had a chance to walk around town and then stopped at a beer garden that was right near our dock.
Each town had something unique and it wasn't before long that we came across Roman ruins which would become a theme for both trips last year.
In Mainz we visited the Gutenberg Museum and got a chance to see one of the Gutenberg bibles. We also took a cab to St. Stephens Church in Mainz so we could get there before they closed in order to see the Chagall windows.
There's more to come in Germany on this trip, but I'll save that for the next post!
