OPA Week Five (April 26-May2)

Apr 26, 2010 16:12

Another Monday, another brand new week to start fresh if you need to, or to continue your healthy routine.  Again, I just wanted to pass along a few tips that I've come across that might help.  It's been said to shop the outer ring of the grocery store.  This is where you'll find the fresh produce, the fresh meat, the fresh bakery and breads.  Many stores have the fresh dairy section on an outside wall, too.  The middle of the store is where all the prepackaged foods are found.  Even when you're trying to be good, it's hard not to shop the middle of the grocery store -- that's where all those convenience products are, those products that finish off what we're making, that are there because it's something that will get us dinner faster and easier than doing it from scratch.  If you must buy prepackaged products, read the ingredient list.  If it sounds more like it belongs in a chemistry lab than in your pantry, don't buy it, choose something else.  In his book "In Defense of Food," Michael Pollan starts off by saying: "Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants."

What are you eating this week?  How's your exercising going?  Check in!  Give and get support!  OPA continues!!
