"In the fog and cold of the city...."

Three new poems!! Inspiration's been hitting with power these past few nights and this is the result. Enjoy!

The Parting Of Women

Perhaps, if they were
still close family,
she and I would have made
that fantasy trip to London.
In the fog and cold of the city,
we might have found
a different sort of home.
A place of distant familiarity,
seen only in dreams.

We could have been
something majestic.
Writers, travelling the world
as companions,
tearing down the men
who crossed our paths.
Perhaps that friendship
will exist only in the pages
of yet-to-be written fiction.

There's a chance
that that's where it
really belongs.
That such a fantasy can't
possibly be real.
Two women who would
have set the world ablaze
torn apart before
they got their chance.

The Fates had their hands
in our parting,
for it bears their signature.
Destiny wouldn't dare to
combine such substances.
Both pure seperate,
but when mixed destroy
each other in a great
slow burning.

Acid, eating away
at the seams, unnoticed
until it's too late.
Too much joy
distracting the elements
from the inevitable outcome.
And just when we
thought it was safe
to come out,

Misfortune found our weakness.

The Three

They find their souls
in their love and affection.
Letting go the controls
they feel their connection.

Three we witness
alone in their innocence.
With one soft caress
they showcase their brilliance.

What some say isn't right
or living in misunderstood sin,
three friends say it's light
and the way it's always been.

Their connections aren't lost,
but just showing their love.
Outsiders see a spiritual cost,
but the innocent see freedom of.

Show Me

Show me innocence.
Show me the sun.
In the dark so long,
without even the stars.
These chains that hold,
were willingly shackled.
Can't break free,
for fear and contract.

Show me innocence.
Show me the sun.
In this summer
can we take a tour?
Of the hills and the air?
Exploring every landscape,
knowing every touch,
free of those around us?

Show me innocence.
Show me the sun.
No longer are they
what they appear to be.
You are my innocence.
You are my sun.
Out of the dark
and into the heat.
