Wisdom from Chocolate Foil Wraps

Mar 07, 2007 17:12

When one derives the smallest of pleasures (and actually looks forward to) from reading messages off the back of a chocolate foil, things couldn't be good, right?

I thought so.

The Flowerfest came and went with me seeing not even a glimpse of the many every-evening-fireworks. The float and street dance parade I only saw on TV, and only for a few minutes. Not that I entirely regret not going. From what I saw on the news and heard from the others, the float parade was 'bastardized' by the presence of those two-faced politicians waving to the crowd. If I were there and witnessed it firsthand, who's to say I won't grab the sidearm of the cop next to me and started shooting all over the place? (A hypothetical scenario. One, there might not be a cop standing beside me. And two, I would have missed each shot anyway. I relish the prospect, though.)

So while the rest of the city is out in the streets enjoying the festivities, I was either at home desperately trying to catch some ME-time, or at the office on a bloody weekend with Arkarna's SO LITTLE TIME tune ringing in my ears.

Back to the chocolate-messages.

I never believed in fortune cookies, although it was fun unrolling the tiny sheets of paper. One time I had one, at a point where I was working real hard towards something. It said, "You're almost there. A little more wouldn't hurt." Now I do not need that fortune cookie to prod me on because I was up to my neck already scrambling to get 'there'. And I did.

Coincidence. But it was fun.

But I digress. Back to the chocolate messages.

Sometimes one smile means more than a dozen roses. My jaws are practically aching from having to smile too much. Smile through adversity, they say. I smile to ward off stress. Who cares about the roses? Roses are so overrated. (But that is an entirely different topic so I won't launch on that.)

Smile before bed. You'll sleep better. Again with the SMILE. What is up with that? I'd smile wider if I knew the hours would miraculously grow longer than they usually are. Honestly I close my eyes and the next thing I knew I have to open them again to welcome the new day.

When two hearts race, both win. ...... Right. Next.

Temptation is fun...diving in is even better. I am tempted to play hooky from work for a day. Or a week, if the consequences won't bite me in the ass, which I am pretty sure they will.

Love without rules. What the.....? Of late, LOVE has itself become a rule. IMO.

Be fearless. Introduce me to one who is fearless. I'd love to get to know him. I'd rather "conquer my fears", though.

Follow your instincts. I sure will.

My personal favorite: Get your feet massaged. Aaaaah.....sheer heaven.....!

Now I know why someone wise once said Life is like a box of chocolates.....
