IT'S A HOCKEY MORNING IN BRITISH COLUMBIA

Just watched the last episode of NHL Revealed and they do a close up of Sidney Crosby doing the sign of the cross. Is he Catholic? Interesting. Had a bit of spontaneous swooning going on, which is even more interesting because while I think Crosby is a good guy and an incredible hockey player I also kind of think he looks a bit... chipmunkish. Not my type. But a guy doing the sign of the cross instantly gains ten levels in sexy in my books.

Guy doing sign of cross: Intense~~~smoulder smoulder smoulder otherworldly aura
Me: *swoon*

So tomorrow is the first of two back to back Pittsburgh Penguins vs Philadelphia Flyers games. If you don't know, the rivalry between these teams is one of the best known in the entire world for noble sportsmanship and fair, clean play.

jk we hate each other

I grew up in eastern PA, a little more than an hour from Philly. Let me tell you, there is no greater anti-fan then a kid who is raised to cheer for a team while living in an area that is home to the traditional rival for that team.

When I was a kid I didn't really care about sports but it didn't take me long to realize that, in general, Philadelphia fans are just awful. Possibly this is sort of conflated with everything that I hated about where I grew up and the culture there? IDK. But this is why I tell people I'm from Pittsburgh, even though I lived in Pittsburgh roughly 1/4 as long as I lived in Allentown, Philadelphia's even less attractive nephew.

the Art Museum in Philadelphia is pretty ok

and cheesesteaks and pretzels also

The game is at 10am local time so I probably won't be able to actually watch it because I will probably be out doing stuff with my kids. I'm really hoping that we beat them both times and that they don't make the playoffs. Mostly because the thought of meeting them in the first round fills me with dread. I may be weird but I prefer that everyone the Penguins play in the playoffs is a team that I don't mind or even like. Then it doesn't hurt so much if they knock us out. To get knocked out by Philadelphia is the worst.

I'm hoping for something more like this:
