Soooo Thanksgiving was actually pretty great! I've discovered that the secret to not overeating at holidays is to be the host. I spent so much time popping up and down, that I basically ate a normal dinner size portion... none of that postprandial stupor.

I got to know my SIL's partner a little better, which was nice. He's the kind of guy who is not very chatty, kind of reserved, doesn't volunteer stuff or start topics, but he does respond/participate in topics that are brought up (that is, he's not a clear "I just like to sit and listen" person), so I have often felt like I was floundering trying to come up with a conversation topic he would enjoy. But conversation seemed to flow pretty nicely yesterday. Actually Pippa did a lot of the icebreaking. She kept coming out with these zany one liners, like telling Jeremy (the partner) to "Go to space!"

I have to say that I think I kind of like Thanksgiving in October. For one thing, you get two separate bursts of "oh hey eggnog! I love eggnog! Eggnog, I have missed you." In the States Thanksgiving bleeds into Christmas so it's just one long run o' nog.

I just realized I haven't shared any pictures or anything of Mary-Alice on here since the newborn days, so here is a video of her laughing while we watch Winnie the Pooh (the 2011 film) and eat Domino's out of the box in the living room, because I was too wiped to try to clean up in the dining room and kitchen even just to eat the delivery there. (It had been a rough day, but this part was pretty nice.)

Yes it's one of those vertically shot phone videos. WANNA FIGHT ABOUT IT

blame canada, social awkwardity, it's a jolly holiday with mary-alice
