More vacation recap! This post: Saturday the 4th through Monday the 6th.

We had an early morning flight to Orlando with a just barely long-enough layover in O'Hare, but it wasn't that bad. The best thing was the flight from Seattle to Chicago we had the front-most row of economy plus, which means instead of seat backs we had a wall in front of us. That meant we didn't have to worry about Pippa kicking the person's seat ahead of us. With the short distance between seats, this was the biggest problem we had going and coming, especially because on the way back we had a lot of turbulence and Pippa couldn't even walk to the bathroom.

But more on that later.

Anyway, we got into Orlando, early evening local time, and my parents had already bought food, so we all just relaxed at the suite and had dinner.

Sunday we went to Incarnation Catholic Church, which is an Anglican Use parish. Actually it used to be the cathedral of the Episcopalian diocese of Orlando. It's a pretty little church. This was our first time attending an Anglican Use Mass and I really enjoyed it. I did like some of the special Anglican touches, like the recitation of the Decalogue. We got to talking with the priest afterwards and had some great conversation with him at their little coffee social. The rest of the day we relaxed at the hotel. I think maybe we went to the pool.

Monday was the Magic Kingdom.

We had a near disaster on the ferry ride from the parking lot. My ticket slipped out of my hand. I don't know how it happened. Fortunately someone found it and we got it back without too much delay, but seriously. It could have easily have fallen into the water and I don't know WHAT would have happened then. I got literal chills whenever I thought about it for the first few days. Could have easily been a vacation ruiner.

Things Pippa liked:
riding the ferry
the Carousel
Dumbo (and the new play area in the waiting room for Dumbo)
climbing around in the Winnie the Pooh house

the Jungle Cruise
her Mickey Mouse ice cream dessert at lunch at the Plaza (the tomato soup here was excellent btw)

the Tiki Room
the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse
it's a small world (LOVED)
the afternoon parade
the train
the balloon my mother bought her (when asked what she liked best about the day, "bloon" was the answer)

Things Pippa hated and thought were trying to kill her:
The Winnie the Pooh ride

All Pippa knew about the Winnie the Pooh ride was that it was dark and that crazy stuff kept jumping out at her. She was unhappy about the dark right off the bat, and started screaming when we got into the Tigger room and pretty much didn't stop until the ride was over. Given that trauma, we didn't try her on any other ride that might be similar, such as the Peter Pan or Little Mermaid rides.

My parents watched Pippa in the evening/night and The Husband and I had a mini-date evening, where we rode all the more adult-ish rides, like the Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean, which has been all movie-fied. I think it was a mistake because the new animatronics (especially of Jack Sparrow) are so much more realistic than the old ones that it makes the old ones look terrible in comparison. Ruins the suspension of disbelief.

We rode the Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin and Gordon smoked me so badly it was embarrassing. My final score was like 20k, his was like 350k, that bad.

We left just before the fireworks to beat some of the crowds.
