the waiting game

Minor pregnancy issue: my test for Group B Strep came up positive, so I'm going to have to get an IV antibiotics treatment at the beginning of active labor/when my water breaks. Luckily, they can do that at home. I tell you what, midwife home births in Vancouver are pretty amazing. They can do IVs, injections, all that stuff. Basically the only things they can't do are stuff you'd do in a OR.

I've had penicillin before, for strep throat actually, so I know I'm not allergic and that's what it will be.

My platelets count was even better than last time so that part is perfectly ok.

We had the home visit today so we showed our apartment and talked about how we'll set up the bedroom for labor. We have to get a little adhesive hook to hang the IV bag from, that's pretty much all we have to do. They said the low dresser we have in the bedroom is just perfect as a surface for their equipment, and our bedroom is a nice size in terms of having people in it. It's right next to the bathroom too so that is good.

I actually am kind of in a phase where I'm a little worried that I'm going to be just in the waiting game. We have a list of things to buy at the store tomorrow, and I have to wash the baby clothes, and once that's done... I'm pretty much ready! So then nothing to do but wait and keep things tidy here. And the urge to OMG DO THINGS is only getting stronger. I don't want The Husband to come home from work two weeks from now and find me rearranging the nursery wall decals over and over saying "They're not perfect yet. They're not perfect yet."

Maybe I should start some kind of project, lol. Like, I was given a scrapbook. Maybe I could like, pre-scrapbook, so that all I have to do is put pictures into it later. Or I could try to make a wedding photo book. I have a prepaid photo book purchase already.

Apparently there was snow this morning up in Mission and Chilliwack (inland communities near Vancouver). Living in Vancouver is an interesting bag, weather wise. Last year we were using heat at night clear into June. We might have to do the same thing this year, especially with a bitty baby.
