(Introductions/Conversations With Editorial Notes)

So here's the old Montana-trip recaps. Brett, sorry you have to read these yet again. To all other friends/acquaintances, I'm going to try and catch up as best I can, and fill you in on a few of the sights and sounds of the fabulous Lewistown Boys & Girls Club.

The following is a conversation with Cherann, a 3rd grader:

Me: Tell me something new that happened since I've been gone.
Cherann: Ohhhh, nothing.
Me: Nothing happened?
Cherann: Nope. [Editor's note: This statement was kind of untrue, because the Dairy Queen down the corner had closed down, and the street meters had been removed, in the year and a half since I'd lived there. However, it must be noted that Cherann would have been in first grade when these things disappeared, so perhaps it's not fair to blame her for not noticing. That being said, it stands to reason that most first graders would probably notice when the Dairy Queen down the corner disappears in a town of 4,000 (on a good day). But, I digress.]
Me: Well, that's kind of....boring.
Cherann: Yeah. [beat] Why don't you work here anymore?
Me: Because I have a job in Chicago. [Editor's note: Though that statement was true at the time, if said today, it would be a big, fat lie.]
Cherann: Why don't you have a job here again?
Me: Well, because I work for the Man now. (Editor's note: Again, true then....not so much true today.]
Cherann: Who's that?
Me: You know, the Man.
Cherann: But who is that?
Me: He's this guy, that runs most stuff, and I work at one of his grocery stores. And cut stuff up. [Editor's note: Yadda, yadda, yadda; blah-blah-bitty-blah.]
Cherann: Oh. Well, you should work here again.
