Word Count: 334

Original/Fandom: Original: Mask of Identity
Pairings (if any): None

Summary: Dragged up this old story and characters from something I wrote in 2004 because everything I've written since then has been based in reality. You can see why I don't write fantasy. LOL.... :D (Spoilers)

I live in the remote part of Morai and don't get out of my village much, so the first time I saw an Isshin with my own eyes, I was more than a little surprised. I had heard from my mom and my sister about their blue eyes and blue hair, but seeing one in real life was a little of a shock! I could only stare at him, and when he looked right at me, I didn't know what to say, so I'm afraid I said nothing and probably seemed like an idiot.

That experience was years ago, and I have seen several Isshin since then. I saw Kyouji that first time when I bumbled so much that no words came out, and just recently, I saw Anzai and Yukio at the palace after the corination. They had stepped out on the balcony where Yukio waved at everyone. He was wearing a long blue robe that matched his hair, and I could just see him through the protective shield that Anzai had cast over the palace. The whole scene almost glittered.

Beside him, stood the Kaizoe. I did not know her name, but I could see her blue eyes, and she was beautiful. She wore a gown of blue so light in color that it almost looked white when the sun hit it at just the right angle. It sparkled and glimmered. And when she raised her hand to rest upon Yukio's shoulder, I realized I had caught my own breath.

I didn't know what it was like to live up there in the palace. I would never know what it was like to be an Isshin or a Kaizoe. I would only know the simple existance of what I was; a village girl. I would leave that day and go about my business, selling vegitables at the local market with my mother and sister, and life would go on.

But I would never forget the magic of the Palace and the Ruler of Morai.

Tense feels kind of awkward. I'm not used to writing in 1st person like this :/

anzai, writerverse, yukio, short story, kyouji, mask of identity
