Title: No One Else
Author: duskblue

Genre: General

Words: 232
Challenge/Prompt: Challenge 10- Sprouting Seed
Warnings: (probably slight) Spoilers for my Novel, Locked Inside
Notes: Not much happens here, but it's not my fault. Reed doesn't really talk to people much, so what in the WORLD am I to do with him???? LOL

Reed walked across the cemetery lawn and tread over the wet grass carefully. He had left the house at dawn before anyone else was awake, and ventured out across the street by himself. It had been a week since he had put his father in the ground, and he still felt hallow and empty. No matter how hard he tried to throw himself into his work, everything he did reminded him of his father, and there was no getting past the fact that the one person he had counted on the most wasn't there.

He stopped at an old grave and stared down at the faded carving.

Nick. His brother had insisted on staying in town. Reed didn't like pity, and the last person in the world he wanted pity from was Nick, but he had needed Nick's help, so there was no getting around it. Nick was nice enough. He seemed to genuinely care for Reed's interests, but he didn't quite get it.

Part of Reed had fallen apart when their father had died, and no one else would really understand.

He continued on a few paces until he came to the freshly filled grave and stood there in front of his father's headstone. There was a tiny little plant that had sprouted up in the dirt, and Reed stared at it.

It figured that life would go on without him.
