This morning while Del cleaned the house I took Julien out for a Mommy morning. This is a real role reversal since usually I clean the house while Del keeps the kid away. We had breakfast at Einsteins on the drag. I always think I'm going to share a turkey sausage bagel with him and he always eats all of mine too. I need to get him his own next time. Then we walked over to campus and went to the turtle pond. We sat down at the edge to watch them and they totally started swarming the water right below us. I guess humans usually mean food. But Julien ate all the food so we had none. We looked for the little ones and shouted "BABY!" at them, which I am sure they appreciated. And we read Yertle the Turtle (which I had packed in anticipation) while we were there. There were even a few turtles perched on each others backs and he kept pointing at the picture and then those turtles. I also heard him pronounce the word turtle very clearly while signing it. He also said 'couch' and 'peach' for the first time today. Anyway, after the turtle pond we walked around the west mall and looked at statues and threw coins into fountains. We chased birds around and then had a race up that steep ramp area between the loading dock of the UGL and the outdoor picnic area of the Union. He did pretty well! We walked back to the car and ran into Kevin, Elizabeth's cousin on the way. We chatted but everyone was sweaty so then J and I left and went to Book People. We played with all kinds of stuff, read lots of alphabet books and rolled on the beanbags. OK, he rolled on the beanbags and I was just the moral support. Then we went to (insert name of horrible fast-food place here) because we wanted ice cream and I only had $1 left. We split a cone and he LOVED it. Was asking for more and everything. Then we came home. The End.
