The plumbers are at the house today installing the sink and toilet for the half bath. I need to take the fan down because the living room is now too small for a giant ceiling fan and it is now not centered in the room and looks crazy. Anyone want a nice ceiling fan? I am just going to replace it with some kind of track lighting. Still lots to do. Del thinks we are going to be done by April 1 but I am less optimistic. I wish we were just moved out already because I can't take much more of living in renovation land.
Julien is 17 months now and is so much fun. You should see his brown bear impression - to die for. One concern is that he is still not walking. Or even standing up unassisted for that matter. We have an appointment with his Dr. on Monday to address his cough and his walking and then on April 2 we are having someone from the state come out and talk to us about getting an eval done. It is through Easter Seals and it will basically determine whether or not he qualifies for physical therapy through the state. This would reduce the monthly cost from about $600 to about $75, so we are hoping he either starts walking in the next 2 weeks or qualifies.
My car is doing some funky shit. Like the dash lights don't work in the morning but they do work in the afternoon. Also my AC is busted. I am in talks with a mobile mechanic but if any of you austinites have trustworthy mechanics (that will work on pontiacs and moon-mobiles) let me know. Preferably soon because we all know that the first day of spring for everyone is actually the first day of summer for Texans. Hello mid-80's... thanks for not being high 90's just yet!
This weekend we've got One Happy Island crashing our playroom for some SXSW action. They are J's favorite band so it should be fun. Next weekend is the Chuck Taylor Wedding. Hopefully Del's fancy wedding shirt will show up before then. Meanwhile, my job is still weird and I am having on-again-off-again mommy angst. This is accompanied by thoughts such as "Damn, I wish I could have another kid sooner rather than later" and "no more goddamn kids until we can live like normal humans again!" During apathetic times I can see it both ways. I bought like 457 new sippy cups this week and have only lost about half of them to the hound dog so far, which is a pretty good record considering. Perhaps if I just went out into the yard and filled up all the ones she stole (and dragged to her nest to nurse on) with new milk, I could prevent more theft. That fricking dog is so much smarter than I am that I feel like a huge loser.
Yesterday when I went to pick J up from school there were hardly any kids there (spring break) so they were out playing on the Big Kids Playground. The BKP has those little red and yellow volkswagon looking plastic cars that drive like the flintstone mobile. Julien's friend Lilia was in one and he was in one. Then he got out of his, closed the door, went over to hers and shoved his ass in next to her. They both kept trying to close the door and drive off into the sunset but they really aren't made for that seing as how they aren't exactly street legal. So he got out and I asked him to say thank you to Lilia for giving him a ride and he kissed her on the cheek - so cute. Then he threw a tantrum when we had to leave. My baby is so big and full of baby angst. I guess we match now.
Am I the only one that puts my cel phone and keys ion the same pocket and then ends up with a screen all scratched to hell? No more phones that don't flip I say!
