I went to a party tonight with some people from work. It was a small gathering, only about 10 people at the most. That's just the right size party for me. One guy brought his guitar and two or three of us started singing. We sang the John McCutchen song "Christmas in the Trenches", which is about an impromptu Christmas truce between the English and the Germans during World War Two, and always makes me tear up. We sang Dan Folgelburg, Cat Stevens, and John Denver. We sang old folk songs he had the music for. We sang until my voice was tired and I couldn't surpress my yawns anymore. God, what a great party.
As we were leaving, one woman told me I had been the life of the party. I know it's not modest to repeat that, but if I can't be immodest in my journal, where can I?

Friday afternoon, just after lunch, I started to get tightness in my upper back and neck, and I suddenly felt really tired. As the afternoon progressed, I the tension passed into my head and I got more and more tired. Last week was indeed a tiring and stressful week for me. I got a good night's sleep Friday night, but the pain and tiredness remained into Saturday. It only went away after I had had a cup of coffee and two cokes. I got my coffee from a different source than usual on Friday, that is weaker coffee than I usually drink. Plus I'd been trying to cut back a little on my caffeine intake during the week. I believe that I was so tired and headachey because I hadn't had enough caffeine. Just goes to show you how sensitive to caffeine I am.
