Magic bullet?

I've seen marked improvement in back pain this past week. I think it's largely because I added yin yoga back into my routine. In yin yoga, you hold gentle floor poses (seated, prone, or supine) poses for several (2-5) minutes. Holding the stretches for so long encourages my muscles to really just kind of melt into the pose. While I have been faithfully doing the stretches that Dr. K has given me every day, I think the addition of 30-40 minutes of yin yoga several times a week is really allowing for a greater relaxation than I've had before. Could this be the magic bullet I've been dreaming of?

I also had a bit of good luck this week. I was a few minutes early to meditation class Wednesday, so I stopped into the health store across the street to look for a hand-held massager to use on the annoying trigger point at the base of my skull. I found one I'd never seen before. It looks like a shepard's crook, but it vibrates. So you can massage all those hard-to-reach spots on your back. Cool, huh?

While I was wandering around the store I noticed a back rest they had on display. It has no legs--the seat rests right on the floor like a stadium seat--and has a back that adjusts like a lounge chair. It is very like one my family used to have back in the 80's that we kept in the den for watching TV (right next to the bean bag chair that was my usual viewing spot). Except that one didn't have an adjustable back.

I bought one and took it to meditation class with me. I was able to adjust the back to a position that took pressure off my back, added a soft pillow, and had the best meditation I have had in weeks. Ahhhh...

I was so relaxed yesterday that my chiro adjustment was the easiest I've ever had. I was so relaxed that she barely touched me and things popped back into place.

Things are definitely improving!
