More cold complaining

The head cold that I came down with on Friday is really dragging me down. I spent the weekend drowning, aching, and tired. By Sunday afternoon I was at the stage of being too wiped out to have a whole lot of energy to do stuff, yet not feeling bad enough to sleep. So I managed to do the most pressing of my weekend chores - grocery shopping and laundry - in short bursts, between which I rested in front of the TV.

I had two meetings planned for Monday, so I had to go in to work. Otherwise I would have skipped it. I took an obscene amount of pseudafed, and made it through. My meetings even went pretty well. I did skip class last night, though. I hated the thought of getting home at 9:30 when I felt so bad.

This morning I got up and got dressed, then came downstairs and just sat there, thinking about how getting in the car and driving to work seemed like it would take too much energy. I called in sick and went back to bed. I slept for a while and ended up getting to work around noon.

On the way in to work, I dropped off my rent check in a public mailbox. Or I tried too, anyway. It was so windy that the wind whipped the envelope out of my hand as I tried to stuff it into the mailbox. I looked around and around, and under the mailbox, but couldn't find the envelope. It would have been amusing except that it was my rent check, and already overdue. Any later and I'd have to pay a late fee. Actually I know it was amusing, because a woman who saw the envelope was laughing when she pointed to where it lay, half in a puddle on the sidewalk. I picked it up, wiped off a stray leaf, and stuffed it in the mailbox. Luckily the "to" address was unharmed, thought the return address was a bit smudged.

Anyway, I'm off to bed now to try to get a good night's sleep. I hope I feel better tomorrow.
