The woman I split my CSA share with missed our pickup last week, so I've been running low on veggies. We were almost out, and suppers for the last two nights have been a bit creatively put together. But today I was reminded that the Pearl Alley Farmer's Market* is on Tuesdays, so I went over there on my lunch break.
For $10 I bought 4 green bell peppers, 2 yellow summer squash, 2 tomatoes, 2 zucchinnis, 2 ears of corn, and a huge pile of green beans. We eat tonight! And I've got plenty for the rest of the week. I need to go over there more regularly. I was able to buy everything, plus pick up a wrap for lunch, in 30 minutes. And now I don't have to drive out of my way to go to the grocery store tonight.
*One of the Pearl Alley markets, anyway. This was the Capital Crossroads one at Broad and Pearl Alley. The Pearl Alley Farmer's Market Association one (the real PAFM?)** is on Thursdays, and 3 blocks farther away at Nationwide and Broad.
**Local politics I don't entirely understand. There used to be one PAFM, now there are two.
