Antioch College Closing
Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio announced yesterday that they are closing due to low endowment funds and dwindling enrollment. They say they intend to reopen the college in 2012.
I never attended Antioch, but I lived in Yellow Springs for 4 years while I was in graduate school at Wright State University. Yellow Springs has a very special place in my heart. I am very saddened at this news. I wonder how the town will fare. Yellow Springs is a small town, and Antioch is an important presence there. It feels like the end of an era.
