Update from the homestead

Friday before I left for Marcon I replanted the three plants that had been uprooted the night before. I noticed that the four surviving plants were farther back, so I moved the uprooted ones back in the same line. That seems to have been the problem; they all made it through the weekend without being uprooted, and seem to be doing fine. This morning Barney left a mole on the back walk for me, so hopefully my plants will be safer from now on.

Last night after dinner rfunk finished off Audrey III (the shrubby vine beside my back door) with a hacksaw. Sweet! The area between the back door and the a/c unit needs just a little more cleaning up and then I'll put down weed control plastic and mulch.

He also used the hacksaw to cut through the thick vine of ivy growing on the southeastern corner of the house (barely visible on the left corner of the house in the icon to this post). The ivy has already done damage to the aluminum siding and pulled the drain spout away from the wall. I'll have to borrow an extension ladder from my neighbors and pull the ivy down from the siding and repair the drain spout once it's dead.
