It seems like everybody on the east side who works downtown is coming to work early and leaving late so they can take Friday off. Both my morning and evening commutes have been much heavier than normal.
So this morning I decided to try taking US-40 to work instead of I-70. (US-40 and I-70 parallel each other.) There were way fewer cars on 40, and the drive is prettier. However, with all the traffic lights my foot was on the brake peddle at least as much if not more than in heavy Interstate traffic. Taking 40 also added about 15 minutes to my commute. So I'd say that it would be a nice alternate route when traffic is backed up due to a big accident on the freeway, or if I feel the need for a change of scenery, but I think I'll stick with I-70 normally.
