MANY MANY thanks to oddest1 for her gracious help. Thanks to her my car window is getting fixed on Saturday, here at my house(!), for less than my deductible! I don't even have to make an insurance claim. I am so relieved to have this taken care of I can't tell you.
I'm playing hooky from work today. There's a big winter storm coming through Ohio (well, two, actually - one from the north and one from the south). Where I am is right on the freezing rain/snow line. Early this morning there was freezing drizzle, which then changed to snow. Now there is nothing falling from the sky, but a second storm is supposed to come through late this afternoon.
So I decided to stay home. I hate driving in winter weather (I blame my Southern upbringing). Plus I'd rather not get rained or snowed on when I'm driving. I did a fair job of duct taping plastic to the inside of the car window area last night. The tape holds fine to metal and glass, but not too well to the vinyl below the window. Better than nothing, though.
